A negative pressure ventilator works by changing the pressure inside an airtight container, expanding, contracting the chest and pushing air into the lungs, becoming a positive resuscitation treatment for children. I have polio.
Before the vaccine, polio was a terror to attack thousands of victims, mostly children in the twentieth century. In 1952 alone, more than 3,000 children died from polio.
However, even if the "negative pressure ventilator" became a symbol of medical success at the time, "positive pressure ventilation" was still the most widely used method of respiratory support.
In 1907, German inventor Johann Heinrich Dräger introduced a device for positive pressure air ventilation called Pulmotor. This device can deliver oxygen to a patient's lungs through a mask. Until the required pressure is reached, the machine will stop and the lungs will eject.
Later ventilator models, such as the Emerson resuscitation machine, were invented based on Pulmotor's operating principles.
